(Bluefield)—The Bluefield State College chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for freshmen, inducted 31 students and three BSC employees into the Society during a recent ceremony at the College. This achievement places these students in the top two percent of all freshmen at Bluefield State.

Debbie Pittman (Professor & Department Head/Computer Science), Deirdre Guyton (Director/Alumni Affairs), and Deidi Rose (Project Coordinator) were also inducted as honorary members during the formal program in the Hebert Gallery/Harris-Jefferson Student Center.
Phi Eta Sigma member Matthew D. Duncan, a Computer Science major from Princeton WV was awarded the first annual Phi Eta Sigma Scholarship Award, which includes a $1,000 scholarship.
Part of the ceremony was recognizing the 28 Phi Eta Sigma members who are receiving bachelor degrees this academic year.
The induction ceremony was conducted by Chapter Advisor John Cardwell, Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment, as well as Chapter co-advisors E. Ralph Patsel, Jr. and Carolyn Kirby. BSC President Dr. Albert Walker also extended congratulations to the inductees at the conclusion of the ceremony.
