(Bluefield)—The BSC Student Association of Radiographers recently donated $1000 to the Upper Big Branch Family Fund. The UBB Family Fund was created to provide scholarships to the children and families of the 29 miners who perished in the tragic mining accident in Montcoal, WV.
The BSC students involved in the project sold memorial bracelets to honor the fallen miners and to show support of their families. The students raised $700 from the sale of these bracelets and contributed an additional $300 to bring the total donation to $1,000. Sarah Hughes Welch, a 2010 graduate of the program, headed up this endeavor.
The Upper Big Branch Family Fund has filed as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization and donations are tax-deductible.
