1000 Boy Scouts to spruce up Bluefield State College Campus

On July 19, 2017, 1000 Boy Scouts from across America will descend upon the Bluefield State College campus to bring their merit badge earning, community rebuilding, service oriented and caring for others qualities to paint, pick up, edge and repair everything in sight for 5 days.

As part of the Boy Scouts 2017 National Jamboree, groups will spread out throughout our region and honor the commitment to service that has defined scouting since its founding in 1910.  Each day, 200 scouts will clear brush, paint, clean and repair whatever needs fixing all across the BSC campus starting Thursday, July 20th at the Baseball/Softball field behind Dickason Hall and working their way across the campus on Friday the 21st and again from Monday July 24th to Wednesday, July 26th.

“We are honored and delighted to welcome the Boy Scouts of America to the Bluefield State campus. Their service will make an immediate, tangible impact on our community, and BSC is thankful for their contributions. We also invite volunteers from local community service organizations to join the Scouts in their work on a variety of projects across campus.” – Dr. Marsha Krotseng, President, Bluefield State College.
