  • Bluefield State College is an outstanding steward of its resources, maintaining 14 nationally accredited programs and graduating an average of more than 350 students annually since 2002.

  • Bluefield State College is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

  • Bluefield State College offers the most affordable in-state tuition of all public four-year colleges and universities within a 200 mile radius. Additionally, the college planning site has included BSC in a list of the 50 colleges and universities in America with the most affordable out-of-state tuition.

  • Exciting new degree programs—the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management and the Bachelor of Science in Imaging Science: Ultrasound Concentration—are now being offered at BSC.

  • Students at Bluefield State College now have a wider range of academic options. BSC has entered into partnerships with six other institutions of higher education by which students' opportunities to earn baccalaureate degrees have been significantly expanded.

  • The College is involved in numerous collaborations and partnerships, including a City of Bluefield and BSC task force that has resulted in the campus hosting a City "Town Hall" meeting, a co-sponsored "Business After Hours," and projects during which a BSC student's research enabled the Bluefield Stormwater Board to save a substantial amount of money, and two nursing students' development of a food pantry at the WV Manor.

  • A $3 million upgrade has enhanced academic laboratories in the Basic Science Building, Engineering Technology, Nursing, and Radiologic Technology. Additionally, grant funding has underwritten laboratory upgrades, strengthening biomedical and microbiology research that students and faculty are conducting.

  • Other collaborative initiatives include BSC's hosting of five Mercer County Schools' academic competitions each year, BSC Jazz Ensemble and BSC Community Inspirational Singers' performances, the West Virginia Alzheimer's Association's "Caregiver University" workshop, and a community-wide "Celebration of Unity."

  • The Hardway Library on campus has significantly expanded its Archives collection and now serves as the host site for the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Archives.
